Sunday Night

This Sunday night we will be gathering for our monthly night of prayer and worship. I want to encourage all of you to be there as it is the 'engine room' for our church plant.

We will start at 5:30 pm and finish about 7 pm. Childcare will be available. Parents will be asked to take a 20 minute shift in the kids room to help out.

By the way, we had another great day at the Tacoma Farmer's Market. We gave out tons of free stuff and had some great conversations. A real highlight for me has been teaming up with TacomaMama.com to provide an exciting kids zone. I can't wait to get back in the market on Thursday, August 7th.

I thought I might tell you guys about how I found you. Woke up on Thursday the 19th to my two year-old daughter as usual, husband was at work and I didn't feel like cooking breakfast so I took her to the McDonald's on 9th. While we were eating at McDonald's, a woman approached our booth and handed me a calendar with all the local Tacoma entertainment events. I saw that the Farmer's Market was going on a few blocks away, and that it was "kids day," so I decided to head down and check it out.

My daughter loved the market and all the kid's activities there, but I hadn't planned on being out for so long in the sun and hadn't really come prepared with things like suntan lotion and water. Was wandering around the grass with my daughter wishing I had brought those things when someone from your church walked up and handed me a free bottle of water, which solved one of my problems.

I went to a really awesome church out in Sumner from the time I was 16 until I went away to college in another state, came back from college two years ago married and with a baby in tow. I still love my old church but haven't really felt much of a connection there since my return; they have a great youth program which worked well for me in high school, but not much for young married couples with children. Sumner's also quite the drive with gas prices what they are, so I've been looking for a church home closer to where I live now in Tacoma.

Anyways, I came on Sunday with my daughter and liked it very much. The 10:30 start time is easy to make with a toddler in tow, you seem to have a solid program for toddlers and plenty of people my age both with and without children. I liked the message, people were friendly to me and tried to get to know me and--donut holes to feed the kid! Always a plus.

So, not making any promises but I'm hoping that I may have found a church home for now. It may sound pathetic but I'm a stay-at-home mom who rarely leaves the house before 12 noon, and on Thursday the 19th all the right pieces seemed to fall into place to lead me to you. I actually felt like leaving the home early in the morning (for once), a random stranger at McDonald's directed me to the Farmer's Market, and there I found you.

See you on Sunday.
