Zimbabwe Crisis

Below is the video we showed on Sunday explaining the urgent need for help in Zimbabwe. Our family of churches, Newfrontiers, is taking an offering to help the churches in Zimbabwe lead in the rescue and rebuilding of their nation. Please do consider giving to such a worthy cause. Checks can be made to New Community Church... if you give cash, please place in an envelope marked for the Zimbabwe Crisis. Thank you for standing with our brothers and sisters in need.

Chronological Bible Storytelling (Training Seminar)

On January 10, 2009 we will be having a seminar on the value of Chronological Bible Storytelling led by Sam and Marlene Poe. If you have a desire to learn more about sharing God’s Big Salvation Story this seminar is for you.

We will be sharing on the importance of biblical storytelling in today’s world. There will also be practical instruction on the art of good storytelling. This seminar will be especially helpful for anyone who has a desire share the Good News with those who are not yet Christians, lead a small group, work with Children or to teach and train others in God’s Word.

We will begin our first session at 10:00 am and plan to finish by 3:30 in the afternoon. We will meet at 711 St. Helens, Tacoma, WA. There is no charge for the event. Please bring a sack lunch.

Due to snow and forecast of freezing rain tonight we are going to cancel the 4 pm meeting. We will attempt to run the kids Christmas program next Sunday as we know they have worked so hard. We hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

What's On and What's Off?

Wow, not quite our typical Tacoma weather! At this point this is what is still happening this weekend and what is not happening.

The Christmas Party is ON! As a reminder... 6:30 pm, Central Lutheran, dinner will be served, and please bring a new pair of kids shoes to donate to the Tacoma Rescue Mission.

The 4 pm Sunday meeting is ON! We will attempt to be there. I know it is supposed to snow so please use good judgment as to whether or not you can safely make it. This Sunday is our Christmas service. There will be a little performance from the kids, we will sing carols, and I will speak for about 15 mins. We will have extra Christmas drinks and cookies so plan to stick around... and consider who you can invite!

The monthly prayer and worship meeting is OFF! With snow in the forecast we will focus on one gathering for Sunday.

Dwell

This Sunday we will be starting a new once a month interview series called 'dwell'. The purpose of the series is to get people of influence in the city of Tacoma into our church telling us some of what they do and to encourage us to join in. Our goal is to expose the church to the good, the bad, and the ugly here in Tacoma. Our prayer is that God would lead us to be a solution in the city.

This Sunday we have the privilege of having David Curry with us. David is the CEO of the Tacoma Rescue Mission and long term resident of Tacoma. You won't want to miss this interview.

Each interview will last about 10 minutes. There will be a brief message after the interview as well.

Christmas Party!

Last year we hosted our first ever NCC Christmas Party. We had a great time and hope to keep the tradition alive, but this year we want to add more Christmas cheer to it.

Yesterday was the kick off of the Advent Season. Advent is a period of expectant waiting for the celebration of the birth of our savior, Jesus. This season tends to get overlooked these days and our focus tends to turn toward sales and shopping.

I was absolutely appalled at the recent news of people being killed on 'Black Friday'. For what? A good sale? I want to call our church to re-focus ourselves on feeling the anticipation and the true meaning of Christmas.

To help us do this we are going to add something new to our Christmas Party. This year, there will be a fee to get into the party. Not a monetary fee, rather it will cost each couple one pair of brand new kids shoes that we will donate to the Tacoma Rescue Mission. (If you are single and want to attend you can team up with a friend... or just bring a pair yourself.)

In a recent meeting with a staff member of the Tacoma Rescue Mission I was moved when she told me about a boy in one of their temporary housing units who was outside playing in the rain barefoot. When she suggested that he go in and put shoes on, he replied, "I don't have any." This is right in our own backyard!

This party is not only for NCCers, this is a great opportunity to invite friends, family, workmates, and neighbors. I'm sure they too would like to contribute to such a worthy cause as well.

Date: Friday, December 19th

Time: 6:30 pm

Where: Central Lutheran (in the room we meet in on Sundays)
*Childcare will be provided by our friends from Silvercreek Fellowship in Silverton, OR. The kids can eat with their parents and then go into a side room and play games and watch a movie.

A full dinner will be served and games will be played. This is a great opportunity for us to enjoy each other, remember what God has done for us, play some games, eat, and also bless the needy in our city. I can't think of a better way to spend Christmas.... or the 19th of December.

Remember, a donation of a brand new pair of shoes is required to get in. Any kids size will do.

Please RSVP to Bo Noonan by December 15th.

I can't wait to see see you all... and that big pile of new shoes!

Men's Conference

Happy Thanksgiving!

Dear Church,

I wanted to take a moment and wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! This year has been very special year for us. As a family we are grateful for having deeper roots here in Tacoma, more friends, and of course a new one on the way. We are also so grateful to God for the unchanging truth of grace and mercy seen in his perfect son, Jesus. This truth wakes us up in the morning and puts us to bed at night. It's amazing to know that as everything else changes around us the main thing stays the same.

As a church we are grateful for all the additions and our new Sunday meeting location. God has really been working in us and through us. I have heard story after story of people being supernaturally transformed by God and being used by God to see others supernaturally transformed by God... and that's what we're all about!

Also, it was an absolute privilege for me to deliver a check to the Tacoma Rescue Mission for $404! That's a lot of turkey! Thank you all for being a blessing to those in need in this city. I know one day we will have a greater influence here, but for now I am grateful for the influence we have.

I am truly thankful for all of you!

Bo Noonan

Morning of Prayer and Worship!

This Sunday, November 23rd at 10:00 am we will gather at 711 St. Helens for a morning of worship and prayer. As a church we pray because we know that God can build a church a lot better than we can. We are in need of Jesus, the master builder. Please join us!

There will be childcare... the parents will be asked to sign up for a 20 minute time slot in the kids room.

However, there will not be any coffee... it's byoc.

We will also have our usual gathering at Central Lutheran at 4pm! Hope to see you all there.

Thursday, November 20, 2008

Stuff a Turkey!

This Sunday we will be collecting all the 'Stuffed Turkeys'. We have already received several and we can't wait to present the money to the Tacoma Rescue Mission so they can buy several turkeys for Thanksgiving.

If you did not pick up a turkey envelope last week that's okay. You can bring cash in your own envelope (just make sure you right Turkey on the envelope) or you can bring a check and just write Turkey in the memo.

Good sized turkeys are going for about $20-$25... I know this can be a stretch. Perhaps you could share an envelope with someone or another family. Whatever you can give will be a huge blessing to people who would normally go without!

Thanks so much for being a blessing!

Beautiful!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of those who helped in this transition. I couldn't help but think how beautiful it was to see people pulling together to see this church established in Tacoma. Our first Sunday at the Central Lutheran Church building was a success. From the set up to the take down, I really feel like we accomplished what we set out to do.

This doesn't mean it's over! We have a long list of improvements that we hope to implement as soon as possible and we could certainly use more help. Three areas of help are needed: kid's workers, set-up and take-down, and setting up the sound system. Volunteering to help in any of these areas would include training so don't worry if you feel inadequate. So many of you have offered your services already and we are truly grateful!

If you would like to help with the kids, please email or speak with Malena Swarthout.

If you would like to help with set-up and take-down, please email or speak with Wes Swarthout.

If you would like to help with the sound system, please email or speak with Waymond Hampton.

Again, I can't express how grateful I am to all of you. It's a real privilege to serve with you as we establish a church(es) where lives are supernaturally changed by God.

Daylight Savings and a New Day

Hopefully you all know by now that this Sunday will be our first Sunday in the new location at the new time. We will gather at 409 N. Tacoma Ave. (Central Lutheran Church) at 4 pm. The parking lot and entrance to the building is in the back. That's right, I said parking lot!

Also, for your information, Sunday is Daylight Savings. This means we all fall back one hour. This is great news as you gain an hour of sleep! Now, if you show up to the meeting an hour early... you will be asked to help set up! You've been warned!

I can't wait to see you all there!

Open House!

This Saturday, November 1st, we will be hosting an 'open house' at our new Sunday meeting location 409 N. Tacoma Ave. (Central Lutheran Church). The open house will begin at 9 am and run until 11 am. This will be an informal time for everyone and anyone to see the new space we will be gathering in.

During this time the set-up team will be setting up the meeting space and taking down the meeting space. This is a great opportunity for us to get a practice run in!

Please come by to help out or just to say hello. Parking is available in the back of the building... turn off of Tacoma Ave onto N. 4th and pull into the church parking lot.

Last One!

This Sunday, October 26th, will be our last Sunday meeting at our 711 St Helens location. Let's shut her down with a bang!

Starting Sunday, November 2nd, our Sunday gathering will be at the Central Lutheran Church building at 4 pm. We are very excited about this change!

By the way, November 2nd is also daylight savings as well... don't forget to fall back an hour... if you show an hour early you will be put to work!

Gracism

I am so grateful for the gospel. I think I've made the understatement of the year, but I am! The gospel (the good news of Jesus Christ) affects every aspect of our lives: our eternal security, a clean conscience, the empowering presence of God in our lives, and on and on it goes. One of the things we are so grateful for as a church is that the gospel is power for reconciliation between men and women of all different backgrounds, races, and socio-economic standing. The gospel unites the un-uniteable and we really pray that this will be evident in our church: in our meetings, our homes, our parties.... in every aspect of our lives.

I recently came across an interview with David Anderson, the author of Gracism, by Christianity Today. (I love when people interview authors... they typically summarize the book and keep my reading load down.) I found it very helpful for us as a church.

http://www.christianitytoday.com/tc/2007/005/3.41.html

Then I found out that David Anderson spoke at a Newfrontiers church in London! You can here him and others speak on the issue of racism and and building mulit-cultural churches here.

As we transition to a new meeting place and a new meeting time, let's not forget that the gospel is good news to all people. As we live, work and play in a very diverse city, let's continue to ask God for a very diverse church that reflects God's heart for every people group on the earth.

We're Movin' on Up!

For those of you who missed our BIG announcement on Sunday.... We're moving our Sunday meeting location and time starting Sunday, November 2nd! Our new meeting location will be Central Lutheran Church which is located on the corner of Tacoma Ave. and North 5th (map). Our new start time will be Sundays at 4pm.

We are extremely excited about this move. In fact, drum role please, here are our top ten favorite things about this move...

10. We can hang out with the '12th Man' on Sunday mornings. All you Seahawk fans will have a chance to watch games with strangers, friends or family and still make it to the meeting on time.
9. We are only moving less than 1 mile from our current location. This means all the walkers can still walk to the Sunday meeting!
8. Breakfast anyone? The later start means you can try a few breakfast joints with friends or have neighbors over for a brunch!
7. Students can sleep in! (Need I say more?)
6. The new location has multiple rooms for our kids work! The kids will be separated into 3 different rooms according to age. Still time to sign up to serve the kids if you'd like.
5. Take a weekend trip and still be back for the meeting! This is great for you campers, skiers, or those who just like to get out of Tacoma for the weekend.
4. There will be lot's of opportunity for people to serve on Sundays! (Set-up, greeters, clean-up, kids work, worship team, and much more) So many of you have already offered your time and energy! Thanks!
3. Go to the park on Sunday morning and hang out with people who don't go to church!
2. We have room to quadruple in size! There is plenty of room for us to grow, grow, grow. So invite your neighbors, workmates, friends and family. Plenty of room for them and their kids!
1. We are on a MISSION! God has BIG plans for us in the city and we are on a great journey.

Farmer's Market and an Open House

Farmer's Market

Tomorrow we will be heading out to the Tacoma Farmer's Market for our fourth and final Thursday of the Summer. We've had a fantastic time there this summer and have met some wonderful people. Tomorrow we will have a slightly different look... There won't be any free waters or kids crafts, but what we will be offering is a free blood pressure check. The Market's theme tomorrow is Mind, Body and Soul and thanks to some of our 'resident' nurses we will be able to serve people with a quick heart check! We will also have some literature on how prayer can help reduce stress. Please drop by and help out... or just stop in to say hey.

Open House

I am very excited to announce that our friends Antonio and Louisa Vasquez are launching a new business to serve and bless the city of Tacoma! They would like to invite you and anyone you know to an open house on this Saturday, September 27th from 11 am to 4 pm. Below is a flyer to give you more information (if you receive this blog via email you may want to visit the blog site to see the flyer in full).

Avoiding Arrested Development

This Sunday we will begin a new series entitled Avoiding Arrested Development. The series will be about how we can experience transformation in our lives. We are all prone to getting stuck in spiritual infancy, never really experiencing change in our hearts, our minds, or our actions. It's God's desire that we would be shaped into the image of His Son. (Romans 8:29) What does that look like? How does that happen?

In Romans 12:2 Paul uses the Greek word metamorphoo to describe this transformation. This is the same word used to describe the transformation that takes place in a caterpillar when it becomes a butterfly. Do you long for such dramatic transformation in your life? I do. I long to see a church that reflects the image of the Son to the city.

I look forward to seeing you all on Sunday as we embark on a journey of transformation.

Too Busy To NOT Pray

At New Community Church we have a strong desire 'to build a house of prayer.' We believe that a church that prays is a church that knows their limits, but also knows that God is limitless. If we are to build a re-producing, worshiping, missional, servant-hearted church, we will first and foremost need to be a praying church.

As many of you know, we currently have a once a month night of worship and prayer. We've really enjoyed these times together and plan on continuing these nights for the foreseeable future. However, we also feel like we want to create more opportunity for us to come together and pray. So this Thursday morning, 6:00 am at 711 St. Helens, we are launching a new, weekly, time for corporate prayer. We will be praying for our church and for other churches, for our city and for other cities, we'll be praying for ourselves and for other people.

Charles Spurgeon once said, "
All hell is vanquished when the believer bows his knee in importunate supplication. Beloved brethren, let us pray. We cannot all argue, but we can all pray; we cannot all be leaders, but we can all be pleaders; we cannot all be mighty in rhetoric, but we can all be prevalent in prayer. I would sooner see you eloquent with God than with men. Prayer links us with the Eternal, the Omnipotent, the Infinite, and hence it is our chief resort. . . . Be sure that you are with God, and then you may be sure that God is with you."

I look forward to seeing you there! By they way, bring your own coffee!

If you have been a part of the 20/20/20 group on Thursday morning, come and pray instead.

Why Shouldn't I Waste My Life

On Friday, September 19th we will begin a small group track based around Don't Waste Your Life. Don't Waste Your Life is a ten week series that will meet on Friday nights near the University of Puget Sound campus. Each evening will consist of snacks, a video and time to discuss the book. (Each person will receive a free book and study guide.) Instead of trying to explain the series I thought I would let the author do so.

If you receive this post via email you may need to go to the bog site to view the video.

This group is open to everyone. Unfortunately, at this point there will not be available childcare. Please sign up on Sunday or email us if you have any questions.

Why we do Foundations

At New Community Church we have a strong desire to build on solid, biblical foundations. This is why we run a ten week study called... uh hum... Foundations. This course unpacks our core beliefs as a church and invites you to give yourself to the building of this church. We consider it the next step after Alpha, so the course is limited to those who have already completed the Alpha Course.

Foundations will run simultaneously with Alpha beginning Wednesday, September 17th at 6:30 pm. In fact, those on the course will eat dinner with the Alpha Course attendees and then break away into a separate space at 711 St. Helens to discuss the material. Childcare will be provided.

Please sign up on Sunday morning or drop us an email to let us know you'll be there.

Why we do The Alpha Marriage Course

On Tuesday, September 16th, we will begin the Alpha Marriage Course. The course is available to all married couples whether they are Christian or not, whether they are a part of NCC or not. We will cover seven subjects over a ten week period: Building Strong Foundations, The Art of Communication, Resolving Conflict, The Power of Forgiveness, Parents and In-Laws, Good Sex, and Love in Action.

The statistics surrounding divorce these days are very grim and we want to see them reversed. If you feel like your marriage is strong, the Marriage Course will help you stay strong. If you feel like it's week, the course will help strengthen it. You will not be asked to disclose any issues in your marriage to a group. The evening will consist of dessert/coffee, a video, and then time for the couples to talk about the topic privately. Childcare will be provided.

Please sign up on Sunday or send us an email to let us know you're coming.

When: Tuesday, September 16th 6:00 pm
Where: 711 St. Helens, Tacoma, WA 98402

Why We Do Alpha

We hope you're all ready for the launch of four exciting new small group tracks for the fall (for more info on each one please visit our website). Each day this week I will be sending out a promo for each one. Today's promo is for the Alpha Course.

Why do we do Alpha?

The Alpha Course is a basic introduction to the Christian faith that has been attended by over 11 million people world wide. The reason we do it here at NCC is that it's a great fit to the vision we have as a church. Our vision is to establish church(es) where people's lives are supernaturally changed by God. Alpha provides an excellent environment for people to hear about Jesus, ask questions about Jesus, and have their lives changed by Jesus.

We really want to encourage all of you who haven't taken the Alpha Course to sign up for the fall session. The Course is extremely helpful for those who wouldn't call themselves a Christian and for those who may have been a Christian for 20 years.

This track is open to all and will include childcare. Please do consider inviting your friends to the Alpha Banquet which will be on Wednesday, September 17th at 6:30 pm at 711 St. Helens. This is the first night and will include dinner, a short talk and dessert. The remaining 9 evenings (all on Wednesday) and one Saturday morning, will include dinner, a short talk, and time for discussion. (Spanish translation available.)

You can sign up for the course on Sunday morning, or send us an email to let us know you're coming!

What a Weekend!

We had an amazing time at Celebration Northwest and Oneblaze Northwest. Amazing times of worship (well done Nick, Alexis, Alfredo, Waymond and Eli!), great teaching from Terry Virgo and John Lanferman, and fun times hanging out with friends from all over the Northwest. Not to mention the fact that NCC won the volleyball tournament!

I wanted to give a special thanks to our family at Silver Creek Fellowship who did an amazing job hosting the conference, providing an amazing family day on Saturday, and giving us a place to sleep. (Oh yeah, and some scrumptious food.)

All of the talks from Celebration NW are available for your downloading enjoyment at www.celebrationnw.silvercreekfellowship.org.

This Sunday we will have John and Linda Lanferman with us. John will be preaching on Sunday morning and helping lead the prayer time on Sunday night (5:30 pm at 711 St. Helens).

I look forward to seeing you all then!

Sunday Night

This Sunday night we will be gathering for our monthly night of prayer and worship. I want to encourage all of you to be there as it is the 'engine room' for our church plant.

We will start at 5:30 pm and finish about 7 pm. Childcare will be available. Parents will be asked to take a 20 minute shift in the kids room to help out.

By the way, we had another great day at the Tacoma Farmer's Market. We gave out tons of free stuff and had some great conversations. A real highlight for me has been teaming up with TacomaMama.com to provide an exciting kids zone. I can't wait to get back in the market on Thursday, August 7th.

20/20/20 Groups

I wanted to post a follow up to the message on Sunday. For those of you who weren't there I preached on being a people who 'love the Bible'. Towards the end of my message I gave you all some practical advice on how to read your Bible. Below are the resources I mentioned....

  • Every Thursday at 711 St Helens the doors will be opened at 6:30 am for a 20/20/20 group. 20/20/20 is 20 minutes of Bible reading, 20 minutes of journaling, and 20 minutes of discussion. The beauty of the group is no preparation necessary. I would recommend you bring a Bible, some paper (a journal), and your day planner (to write down those nagging to-do's that keep popping in your head)..... oh, and of course some COFFEE. Swing by a drive through on your way over. I want to encourage you all to get into a 20/20/20 group.... the way you do that is ask a friend to meet with you for an hour... a coffee shop, your home, a park, the student center.... go for it!
  • A bible reading plan. Click here to view a few different plans. These plans will help you read through the whole Bible, which will give you the whole story.
  • A one year Bible. This Bible will get you through the whole Bible in a year and has your readings laid out day by day. You can buy one, or read it online at esv.org.
  • Journal! If you're like me, it really helps to have a pen in hand when I read. I want to recommend the SOAP method. Click here for a sample journal using the SOAP method.
  • Use a Study Bible. I recommend the NASB or the ESV (which will be available in October).
  • Online Bible. Bible Gateway has the Bible in every translation and it's free.
Remember, you should never feel condemnation about your Bible reading. The Bible is there for us to find out how much God loves us, not for us to earn God's love.

It's truly amazing that we have God's words, His desires, His passions, for us and our world in a book.

Special Offering

This Sunday, June 1st, we will be taking a special offering for our summer outreaches. Why? Great question.

This summer is going to be a very exciting summer for NCC. It's an opportunity for us to be out and about blessing the people and place of Tacoma. We have a desire to do a lot and to do it well. This means we will need finances and resources.

We plan on handing out hundreds of free waters, hundreds of balloons, supplying thousands of beads and string for kids jewelry, baseball tickets, father's day gifts, and much, much more.

Please prayerfully consider how much you can give this Sunday. For those of you who give regularly we are really grateful, but now we ask that you go above and beyond your usual giving. And for those who haven't yet given, please consider giving to the mission of New Community Church.

This is a great opportunity for us all to invest in the city and in the Kingdom of God. We really believe your investment will have an eternal return.

Checks can be made out to New Community Church, please write 'summer outreach' in the memo. If you bring cash please place it in an envelope and write 'summer outreach' on the front so that we know how to allocate the funds.

Thank you so much for investing in the mission!

Let's Go!

This Sunday night we will be gathering to worship and pray. These times have been so rich and juicy! I hope you can all make it. We will also be updating you all on where we are at as a church plant and where we're going...

We'll start at 5:30 and should be done about 7 (no promises, but we'll try). Childcare will be available. Parents will be asked to sign up for a 20 minute time slot in the kid's room.

See you all there!

NCC at the Market

I am extremely excited to announce that we have been invited to participate in one of Tacoma's finest events. This summer we will be involved in four (4) days of the Tacoma Farmer's Market. The market will be hosting a new section called the Local Living Lounge which will give non-profits the opportunity to serve the market and promote what they do in the community.

We will need a lot of help pulling this off... setting up, taking down, handing out waters, helping children with crafts, and just some smiling faces. Please let me (Bo) know if you would be interested in helping out.

The dates are as follows....
June 12th - Dad's Day

Save the Date(s)!

I'm sure all of you are as ready as I am for summer. I wanted to mention a couple of dates to all of you that I really hope fit into your summer plans.

First one is July 18-19 (Friday and Saturday). Brad and Beccy Stave have been gracious enough to set up a church camping trip. The location is Belfair State Park which is located about an hour away near the Hood Canal. Activities include swimming, fishing, kids play area, horseshoes, volleyball and much more. Accommodations.... a tent! The trip is open to anyone (NCCer or not an NCCer), but space will be limited so please contact Beccy if you would like to go. (By the way, this is purely a recreational time... no teaching sessions or anything like that.)

The next date is August 15-17 (Friday-Sunday). This is for Newfrontiers Celebration Northwest which is a conference for all the Newfrontiers churches in the northwest. This year we will have Terry Virgo as the main speaker. There will be childcare, kid's programs and Oneblaze (7th - 12th graders). (Oneblaze will actually start on the Wednesday before and then merge into Celebration Northwest.) The conference will be held at Silver Creek Fellowship in Silverton, OR. More details will be available soon. I really want to encourage all of you to attend this one.... and bring a friend if you'd like!

I will speak for about 20-30 minutes and that will be it for the first night. The following nights we will break into discussion groups after the talk. A Night to Touch Heaven

This Sunday, March 16th we will be gathering at 5:30-7 pm to worship God and pray for ourselves, our city, and the nations. We are really looking forward to a powerful time of worship and a time of asking for Jesus' kingdom to invade our world. These are important times for us as a new church. With Easter and Alpha on the horizon let's press into Jesus and ask Him to build this church!

FYI - This is in addition to our Sunday morning meeting...

Alpha on the Horizon

It's no secret that we at New Community Church are huge fans of the Alpha Course. In fact we like it so much we would love to see everyone at NCC go through it at least once. I've been on the course and taught the course more times than I can remember and yet I feel built up and encouraged every time. Whether you've been a Christian for years or not a Christian at all I believe that Alpha will be very helpful.

Alpha begins on Wednesday, March 26th at 6:30 pm. A meal will be served right at 6:30 pm followed by a short talk. In future weeks there will be a meal, short talk, and discussion groups.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Wednesday March 26th 6:30 pm - Alpha Banquet (If you have not been on the Alpha Course yet we want to encourage you to sign up for this one. The night will consist of dinner, a talk and discussion groups. All are welcome.)

Need the info....

Hello Church,

I wanted to take a moment to communicate a few things.

As you may have noticed we took down those walls, we have fixed up the new kids space (still wanting to put a bathroom in there), and we have a huge chalk board on the wall now! What's going on? Well, we are making more room for more people. By God's grace we continue to see new people on a regular basis which is extremely exciting. Our vision is to establish a church(es) where people's lives are supernaturally changed by God and for us to see this on a larger scale we need to make more room. We have a few more things to do before our space is finished: curtains, Waymond is working on some BIG decor, more chairs, and a sound system (no worries, it wont be overwhelming). We are currently working on all this and we should have it all finished within the next few weeks. By the way, a HUGE thank you to all who helped with the demolition and the painting and the mopping and the decorating and the... well you get the picture.

The reason we want to have all this done in the next few weeks is because we are aiming to swing the doors open wide on February 24th. We are going to have an outreach team with us for the week leading up to the 24th. Four guys from Silver Creek Fellowship in Silverton, OR are going to join us for the week to get the word out about who we are. We will produce a schedule soon and all are welcome to join in on anything these guys will be doing.

One month from February 24th is Easter Sunday. We will once again go for a BIG Sunday meeting that day. We will use Easter Sunday as an invitation to another Alpha Course which will begin the week after Easter. (More details to follow)

By the way, that BIG chalk board is going to serve as another medium for communicating all these upcoming events... and perhaps a few other things.

You may have also noticed that there is no prayer meeting tonight (Tuesday). We are changing our prayer meetings to once a month on Sunday nights. We will open it up more and it will now consist of worship, praying locally and praying globally... and of course we will continue to pray for the sick! At this point, the next prayer meeting is tentatively scheduled for Sunday, February 17th. (More info to follow)

You may be asking... "What Can I Do?" Great question!

We are still in need to kids workers. There are two ways you can serve the kids: we need classroom leaders (these people will use the curriculum to teach and train our little ones) and we need classroom assistants (these people will help the classroom leader with anything they need help with). Please contact Malena if you are interested.

We also need help with set-up and clean-up. Please let me know if you are interested in either of these.

We are moving ahead here! My prayer is that we move ahead together. Please let me know if you have any questions or thoughts.

It's a real joy and a privilege to work with all of you!

Bo Noonan
